Purple Kusudama Origami Ball
Julie Dye Craft
Details
This origami flower ball is handmade using 60 sheets of origami paper and hangs from a ribbon loop. Looking at it is kind of like staring into a kaleidoscope—mesmerizing and endlessly fun. Keep one at your desk in place of a stress ball, and you could be feeling a little more zen! Kusudama is an art form that originates from ancient Japan, where they were originally used for incense and potpourri. The word itself is a combination of two Japanese words: kusuri for “medicine,” and tama for “ball.” They are now typically used as decorations and gifts, and Julie Dye’s are made with hand-printed Japanese Chiyogami paper so no 2 pieces are ever identical.
